Pennies, Nickles, Dimes and Quarters

We are having so much fun learning about MONEY!! The kids have been shopping and using addition to "purchase" itmes at the "store"!
We are also learning a new song to help us remember the value of the coins and who is on the coins:
Sung to the tune of "oh my darling"
Pennies, Nickles, Dimes and Quarters
How I love to count the coins
The penny with Lincoln is just one cent for me,
Thomas Jefferson's nickle is five whole cents
F.D.R is the Dime and it's ten cents in all
Our first President is on the Quarter
His name is George Washington and his worth is twenty five.

If I had $100.00 I would....

Working with the Large Movable Alphabet to spell and sound out words.

Coin / Crayon Rubbings. This was a super fun project that all the kids enjoyed, they used crayons to rub over coins and create their own money!

If I had $100.00 writing project! All the kids did some pretty awesome things with $100.00. Some of their answers were: "buy som'thin'" - "turn into Spiderman" - Be a scuba diver" - "Go to the Moon" - "Go to Auntie Megan's House" - "turn into a princess" and so many other creative ideas!! Way to spend that $100.00 kids!

Christmas Party!

Our Class Party was so much fun! We started by making reindeer headbands and jingle bells to play Reindeer Games, as Reindeer!! The kids played musical chairs, the egg race game, and pin the carrot on the snowman nose! We finished up our party with the gift exchange, the kids loved their new prizes from their friends. What a great way to start the holiday season!

We are excited for 2010 - See you on the 4th of January!
